Here & There 02.28.20
New films, high fashion and more.
Here & There? is a weekly-ish email from Kyle Frost about travel, the outdoors, and other stuff. If you’ve enjoyed this issue, please consider forwarding it to a friend. If you’re reading it for the first time, consider subscribing (it’s free!).
The last issue had a 54% open rate and the top click was this adventure-filled test drive with Rivian in South America.
Here We Stand
Definite highlight of my week was the release of our 4th #EveryoneOutside film, “Here We Stand”. Join Teresa Baker and a group of diverse outdoor leaders as they become the first members of the public to explore a newly discovered, old-growth redwood forest.
@cadler put it well — “We are in a pivotal time. "Here We Stand", a short film, pulls so much of this time together beautifully. Race, nature and community. Together.”

World's Best Kayaker Seeks Full-Time Employment
I really enjoyed this story from Outside about incredibly badass kayaker Nouria Newman. It touches on a number of issues, swinging from female equity in sport to the mental challenges that come with pushing the absolute limits of adventure.

I’ve seen quite a few pictures of this spot in Norway, but I stumbled across these shots from @johnwingfield, and the tones are just 👌🏻. Channeling those Alex Strohl vibes.
Get Fashionable
You may not expect it, but the outdoor industry occasionally gets used in “fashion”. Salomon’s blacked-out S/Lab shoes were quite popular for a while, the North Face had a big foothold in streetwear (and they just released a new urban/city line called their Black Series). And this week. Virgil Abloh had the Hadid sisters wearing Arcteryx as part of the Off-White Fall/Winter 2020 collection.

Oh, you thought #vanlife was cool?
That’s all for now! As always, feel free to reach out with ideas, feedback, or stuff you think I should talk about via email, Instagram, or Twitter.
The best way to support is always to share :)
Cheers,
Kyle
